The class of 1969 once again won the Fideles trophy for having the highest percentage of Fideles Society members of any reunion class. Thanks to the many FAITHFUL members of the class!
Membership in the Fideles Society represents three consecutive fiscal (not calendar) years of giving to the College.
Class of 1969 News for Spring 2026
Marion Hinson Mitchell and Jack had an amazing cruise from Buenos Aires, Argentina, through Drake’s Passage, past the Antarctic Peninsula and back up the coast of Chile. They enjoyed interesting excursions and saw penguins, seals, whales, and albatrosses. She sums it up as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Penny Burr Pinson celebrated the 35th anniversary reunion of the Sautee Outdoor Live Festival at the Sautee Nacoochee Center which she co-founded in 1990. Many of the returning performing and visual artists credited their Sautee Nacoochee experiences with leading them to enviable professional careers and collaborations. Penny calls herself "The Ghost of Sautee Past." With cherished past colleagues, she experienced the past, present and future of the Center viscerally as the emeritus hostess of the various events. She continues to be grateful to the Agnes Scott dance program for providing the prologue to her own dance story. Classmates Judy DeWitt and Martha Wilson Kessler remember.......
DorothyGayle Grubb Haas fully retired this past year. She continues to live off the grid on 40 acres in the coastal range of northern California. They produce much of their own food, and she oversees the flowers. She is facilitating SoulCollage groups at her local library once a month and that satisfies some of her need to contribute to the community.
Bunny Teeple Sheffield and husband John are headed to New Zealand to spend autumn (there) with her daughter who lives in Wellington.
Minnie Bob Mothes Campbell and Mike went to the Ft. Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. It was a bucket list item for her, as well as a nod to her Texas heritage. Her favorite event was the opening parade down Ft. Worth's Main Street. She couldn't verify the count, but was assured there were 3,000 horses, along with their riders, in the parade!
Ellen Joyce Sherling (x69) and Bill continue to engage their minds and make new friends with OLLI classes at Auburn University. She writes that aging together is a blessing fraught with challenges. They consider themselves lucky that they can continue to laugh together at the unexpected bumps along the road.
Lalla Griffis Mangin and Al cruised with American Cruise Line from Jacksonville, Fla. to Charleston, SC with stops at Jekyll Island, St. Simon’s Island, Savannah, Hilton Head Island, and Beaufort, SC.
Family has asked us to share that Jo Ray Freiler VanVliet and Nicki Noel Vaughn are both in memory care.
Pat Grant Gooding’s husband, Bob, passed away September 20, 2025.

SPIRIT SONG - CLASS OF 1969
(Sung to the Tune of “Bloody Mary” from South Pacific)
We are the freshmen and we’ve got the fight,
Bum, bum, bum, bum (repeated after each line).
We use the sophomores just to test our might,
When there’s a job to do we’ll do it right,
The Class of ’69!
On our faces there are smiles so bright,
You can see us dressed in yellow and white,
Our success will reach the greatest height,
In 1969!
In the Hub or on the hockey field,
We’ve got the spirit that will never yield,
Our pride in Agnes Scott can’t be concealed,
The class of ’69!

CLASS OF 1969 SISTER CLASS SONG
(to the tune of “May You Always”*)
May you, juniors, be our guidelines
through our days at ASC.
May each day we spend with you,
be a cherished memory.
May each new year bring a challenge,
May you answer with a song.
May you seek your highest goals
that have guided you so long.
May your heartaches be forgotten,
only joys remain
May all your days at Agnes Scott
be remembered through the years,
And may we freshmen always love you,
cheer you, aid you all year through.
May you find your happiness,
This is our wish for you.

Thanks to our innovative Spirit Committee (Tish, Bunny and Marion) who made sure we were noticed processing into Gaines. Yellow boas, yellow pinwheels, and yellow streamers made a statement. And who can forget seeing the three classmates dressed in Raggedy Ann costumes!
