The class of 1969 once again won the Fideles trophy for having the highest percentage of Fideles Society members of any reunion class. Thanks to the many FAITHFUL members of the class!
Membership in the Fideles Society represents three consecutive fiscal (not calendar) years of giving to the College.
Spring 2025
Gayle Wunder Hock and her husband celebrated fifty-four years of humor together (her own words.) They enjoyed a fun trip to Turk and Caicos with their extended family over the summer.
Sherrie Yandle Catledge shared that the last few years have been challenging. She lost both parents, her sister Vicki Yandle Taylor, class of ’71, as well as another sister, Marcy. Despite it all, she continues to count her blessings with the success of numerous grandchildren.
Lou Frank Guill and Marshall enjoy being grandparents to kids of all ages. Recently they took 4 grandchildren, ages 4-10 years (with one set of parents) to Universal Studios in Orlando for a Harry Potter experience. Then they went with their oldest granddaughter to Italy for a long-delayed 16th birthday trip. Lou says it was a lot of fun to see Rome and Pompeii with someone who had just finished her first semester of college and had taken a Classics course! Later they took the second oldest grandchild on a ski trip in Colorado with his boy cousins. Next they will be off to Spain to see Aven play soccer with the Under 19 US National Team in a tournament against the Netherlands, England and Spain.
Bunny Teeple Sheffield writes that after enjoying our 55th reunion in April, with so many of us gathered, she’s found ways to see and keep in close touch with a few of her classmates since then. In the fall, she did some birding with Carol Blessing Ray, had a fun lunch with Frankie Ansley and met her new dog Bella, and walked with Carol Jensen Rychly through her Helene-ravaged neighborhood. The "Gang o' Four" monthly Skype calls with Winnie Wirkus Djajengwasito, Betsy Fuller Hill, and Marion Hinson Mitchell continued through 2024, each one a delight. She’s not far from junior year roommate Marsha Williams Norman, and they are planning a visit.
Marsha Williams Norman writes in a surprise message: I’m happily retired from Broadway, living in Great Barrington, MA. But this year, The Juilliard School, where I taught playwriting for 25 years, is giving me an honorary Doctorate, which I’m really looking forward to. My life in the theatre has been rewarding and successful, buoyed as I was by my 3 years accompanying the dance group at ASC. Yes, I’ve won a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, but so have 11 of my students, which really makes me proud. I think of Agnes Scott all the time, I just spoke to my roommate, Eliza Starnes a month ago, and wish all of us a determined survival of these difficult times.

SPIRIT SONG - CLASS OF 1969
(Sung to the Tune of “Bloody Mary” from South Pacific)
We are the freshmen and we’ve got the fight,
Bum, bum, bum, bum (repeated after each line).
We use the sophomores just to test our might,
When there’s a job to do we’ll do it right,
The Class of ’69!
On our faces there are smiles so bright,
You can see us dressed in yellow and white,
Our success will reach the greatest height,
In 1969!
In the Hub or on the hockey field,
We’ve got the spirit that will never yield,
Our pride in Agnes Scott can’t be concealed,
The class of ’69!

CLASS OF 1969 SISTER CLASS SONG
(to the tune of “May You Always”*)
May you, juniors, be our guidelines
through our days at ASC.
May each day we spend with you,
be a cherished memory.
May each new year bring a challenge,
May you answer with a song.
May you seek your highest goals
that have guided you so long.
May your heartaches be forgotten,
only joys remain
May all your days at Agnes Scott
be remembered through the years,
And may we freshmen always love you,
cheer you, aid you all year through.
May you find your happiness,
This is our wish for you.

Thanks to our innovative Spirit Committee (Tish, Bunny and Marion) who made sure we were noticed processing into Gaines. Yellow boas, yellow pinwheels, and yellow streamers made a statement. And who can forget seeing the three classmates dressed in Raggedy Ann costumes!
